Jackson, Miss.  Sept. 26, 1886

 

Mrs. Harper,

    My Dear Madam

 

I this moment learned from ____________ that you were in the city.  My first impulse was to challenge Capt. Harper for not advising me that you would be here.  It would have given my daughter, Mrs. Henry and myself more pleasure than I can express to have entertained you and your sister, Mrs. Kills.  Will you not remain over and spend tomorrow or longer with us?

Please accept the flowers with my compliments and good wishes.
